Kawakawa leaves were traditionally used topically for numerous conditions including abrasions, bruises, rheumatism, dry – irritated and itchy skin (like psoriasis, eczema), minor cuts and infections. Kawakawa leaves contain volatile oil and two key components of this, Myristicin and Elemicin have been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties.
Kawakawa oil, derived from the leaves of the Kawakawa plant (Macropiper excelsum), native to New Zealand, have been infused in Sweet Almond oil, the oil soluble constituents are able to be extracted and therefore easily incorporated into your formulations.
Can be used in making balms, ointments and salves.
